High Falls

Getting There:

  • The DuPont Forest is about 6 miles south of Highway 64 halfway between Brevard and Hendersonville NC.

Comments:

High Falls is a beautiful waterfall gently cascading down the mountain side into a nice pool and landing area.  The area has recently been developed for easier viewing access including a fabulous covered picnic area.  Don't confuse this with Rainbow Falls from the Gorges State Park along the Horsepasture River like we did.  They appear similar.

If you park in the Buck Creek Access area, you may follow a moderate .5 mile trail to the picnic area and follow all the way down to the pool at the base of the fall if you choose.

In addition, there is another half mile walk to the covered bridge at the top of the fall.   Further up the trailhead, you may lead yourself to another Bridal Veil Falls. (We did not make the trek this time so no photo is available at this time)

Also, You can park at the Hooker Falls parking lot and follow a short trail to Hooker Falls and then hike back up a trail to Triple Falls.  If you continue up along this trail, you will eventually intercept the Covered Bridge and High Falls trails.
